In a small, Bible-beating town, high-school senior Lily enjoys a "scarlet letter" kind of reputation. Her unwillingness to feel shame about her sexual adventures adds to the conflict between the community's sense of right and wrong and her own. When things with her secret boyfriend get ugly, she finds herself in the middle of the desert with a Spanish-speaking hitchhiker who is either Jesus Christ himself, or a Mexican migrant worker on the run.
